Importance of Sleep

Creating a nighttime routine is important to get quality sleep. Our bodies do many things as we sleep. Important things like our brain stores new information and gets rid of toxic waste. Tissues regrow and repair. Hormones and proteins are released. Our cells repair and regrow. When we sleep well and the right amount, we build immunity, increase brain function, combat insulin resistance, and protect our heart health.
Goals to create a consistent sleep schedule should be a priority in our lives. I know that most healthcare professionals ask about being on electronics before bed. This is not a question designed to create shame or relay judgment. It is a core question related to sleep. When we are using electronics right up until the time we fall asleep, we are staying wired,
and our bodies are not ready to wind down and get into that deep sleep we need for repair. Looking at your nighttime routine to see where you can make small changes can impact your health in positive ways.
